DON'T GET ME WRONG,
I am very result driven. But I’ve always understood that people are your most powerful tool to get results. I have to admit, in my first years as a manager I used this very deliberately. But along the way I noticed I felt most satisfied at the end of the day when I had made a difference for someone and it became second nature to me to put people first and care about their wellbeing, ambitions and potential.

MANAGER ALBERT HEIJN GORINCHEM

This completely new Albert Heijn location was opened in August 2018. Prior to the opening, I was responsible for analysing the customer profile, coordinating a commercially powerful floor plan and assortment, recruiting and selecting a full sales and management team, contact for building parties, leading the logistics and setting up marketing campaigns around the opening.

± 10 million euro’s
Team size:
± 120 staff members including Team leaders and Assistant Manager

AHOLD RETAIL TALENT PROGRAM, TRAINEESHIP 

As 1 of 8 trainees selected from all over the country, I followed an intensive (internal) trajectory of Ahold during this period. After an extensive selection process I was elected on the basis of a large learning ability, adaptive power and a high degree of independence. The aim of the traineeship was to get the trainees ready fast (within 1.5 to 2 years) to lead their own Albert Heijn location. During this period I combined a position as Assistant Manager at a large location with training days. The training was divided into 50% specific knowledge about finance, HR and Commerce and 50% development of the person by means of intervision, coaching in conducting staff interviews (eg absence interview, job interview, assessment interview, correction interview, etc).

As 1 of the 2 people who were ultimately found to be able to manage their own location, I subsequently made the move to Supermarket Manager.

I TRY TO BE CONSCIOUS ABOUT MY HEALTH AND WELLBEING,

so in my spare time I like to read about food, lift some weights and prepare nice wholesome meals. But truth be told; I definitely have a soft spot for anything chocolate… (Or fries, or nachos…) I get inspired by visiting museums (anything from modern art installations to informational exhibitions), take walks through preferably urban landscapes while listening to a podcast and discovering new cafes and restaurants with a good concept and design.
